Alessandro Safina: Don't Play Apartheid ''Israel'' Anymore

Dear Mr. Alessandro Safina, 

We, the undersigned, are citizens of Lebanon, coming from different ideological denominations, but united by a common rejection of Israeli Apartheid and occupation of Arab lands, including parts of Lebanon, as well as a common support for the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, including their right to self- determination and the right of Palestinian refugees to return to their lands from which they were ethnically cleansed in 1948. 

We understand that you performed many times in Lebanon, and at least twice in “Israel” during the last two years. 

Mr Safina, we ask you to stand on the side of justice and stop performing in occupied Palestine and to join many international bands, musicians and artists in the cultural boycott of ''Israel,'' responding to the Palestinian Civil Society’s  Call for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) against ''Israel'' as a reaction to its occupation, Apartheid and denial of Palestinian refugees their fundamental right to return to their homes, as stipulated in UN resolution 194. 

Please follow in the steps of Roger Waters, the UK duo Massive Attack, Tindersticks, Leftfield, Faithless, the Pixies, Gorillaz Sound System, Elvis Costello, Gil Scott-Heron, Carlos Santana, Bono/U2, Devandra Banhart, Cat Power 3, Snoop Dogg, among others, who have refrained from performing in ''Israel.'' 

Please boycott ''Israel'' & be on the right side of history. This boycott call is ''inspired by the struggle of South Africans against Apartheid and in the spirit of international solidarity, moral consistency and resistance to injustice and oppression''. ''Israel'' is a persistent violator of international law and has failed to respect fundamental human rights.
